After the three days of winter tests, the CFMOTO Gaviota Aspar team returns to the Jerez de La Frontera circuit for the fifth round of the season and does so without a rider. After injuring his right thumb while training before the Qatar GP, Maximo Quiles underwent surgery, so he'll have to also skip the first European round on the calendar.
Joel Esteban - whose normally busy in the JuniorGP with the Iberian team - will again be joining Dennis Foggia, currently 9th in the general standings with 24 points (43 less than leader Angel Piqueras).
"It's back to Europe and on a track where we had the pre-season," tthe Italian rider said. "It's not a track I love or that suits my style, but I'll try to stay up in front and fight for the top positions."
"I wish Maximo a speedy recovery but, at the same time, I want to thank the team for the opportunity they've given me. I'm looking forward to racing. Despite the fall, I ended the weekend in Lusail with good feelings. I was able to make progress on a riding and mental level. My goal will be to continue learning, since the coveted goal is the Junior category title. I'll grind kilometers riding the Moto3, to better understand and improve the bike between Friday and Saturday, so as to be competitive on Sunday," the 19-year-old commented.
