MotoGP, Bagnaia: "my mistakes are to blame if Marquez is in the official Ducati team"

"Last year I crashed a lot and had several problems when I was in the lead, which is why at Borgo Panigale they thought it would be useful to hire a rider like Marc. 2025? Working for the future."

MotoGP: Bagnaia:

Even though Pecco Bagnaia showed signs of growth and greater attunement with the GP25 between Sunday's race in Austin and the one in Qatar, impatience with the presence of a steamroller of a champion like Marc Marquez is making itself felt. In spite of an enviable aplomb in front of the cameras, it is clear that the rider from Piedmont is struggling to swallow the immediate competitiveness of his boxmate, who as soon as he joined the Lenovo team, has been capable of "killing" the championship by achieving an uninterrupted sequence of poles and victories.

And precisely on this subject, confiding in TNT Sports, the 28-year-old expressed a very particular consideration regarding the reasons that might have led the Dall'Igna-Tardozzi pairing to hire the ace from Cervera instead of promoting Jorge Martin, winner at the end of the world championship title with a Desmosedici but of the Prima Pramac team.

"I think Ducati itself wanted this situation to be created. Last year they lost the championship because of my mistakes. Having the fastest bike of the lot, winning 18 races including the Sprints and then missing out on the World Championship means there is something wrong. I'm the one who lost because I was always there to fight for success, but instead of finalizing I crashed or ran into problems when I was in the lead," were his words.

Basically, according to Pecco, if he now has to live with the most fearsome rider in the group the reason is only one. "It will take time to accept it, but it is 100 percent my fault and what I am doing is trying to progress. After 2025 it will be important to get back into the title battle. Of course, if I were to do it this year it would be great, but I see it as difficult," he admitted seemingly already defeated.

If everyone expects the outbreak of a rivalry in Senna-Prost style, the Ducati rider reassured that for the moment he and the Spaniard are getting along just fine. "Currently we are doing a great teamwork and trying to find together ways to improve over the course of the weekend. Marc certainly has adapted perfectly to the team's strategy and the atmosphere there is still good. Just as well. I had never spoken to him before and I'm glad to have met him and seen how good our relationship can be," was his final consideration.
