Assen turned out to be his worst-ever weekend since he has been racing in Superbike. In the Netherlands Andrea Iannone was looking for some form of redemption after Portimao, in the end his expectations were disappointed because the TT round turned out to be the toughest one he has faced so far.
In fact, Saturday morning The Maniac crashed to the ground at the end of qualifying in turn 7, destroying his Panigale V4. The mishap actually marked the rest of the weekend for the Go Eleven rider, who lined up at the start of Race 1 with his second bike, crashing again.
On Sunday morning, however, during the Superpole Race, a brake problem got in the way, forcing him to retire after not even one lap. Too bad, because at that moment Andrea was close to the top positions. The same ones he chased in Race 2, where, however, he finished ninth behind Toprak and the BMW.
One thing is certain: Assen put a strain on Andrea's nerves, but he wanted to leave a message:"It was a very difficult weekend, many technical problems and many missed opportunities - he wrote on social media - I'm not happy and it's frustrating to race like this, but you know I never gave up. I will continue to fight!"
The Maniac then recalled his history and his own past, on and off the track, relaunching rather than calling it quits. Cremona will now need a signal to restart and turn the page as soon as possible.
