MotoGP, Pol Espargaro: "What happened in Texas led Marquez to control himself"

"In the middle and final part of the GP, he took it easy. Nice analytical approach from Bagnaia, and seeing KTM on the podium again is a breath of fresh air after the problems they had."

MotoGP: Pol Espargaro:

Pole, Sprint Race, and GP: Marc Marquez took it all in Qatar, without overdoing it. Being careful not to repeat the same mistake he made in Texas, which deprived him of another certain victory, the ace from Cervera also let others dictate the pace for a few kilometers during Sunday's race, before the decisive assault that consecrated him ruler of the weekend.

Commenting to DAZN on what his fellow countryman and former Honda teammate, Pol Espargaro, did in Lusail, he said: "He controlled himself a lot more than he did in Austin. Maybe because of what happened in America, he handled the middle and final part of the grand prix more by taking it easy."

And, if the eight-time world champion once again proved his supremacy, on the other side of the garage, things went less smoothly for Bagnaia, were it not for the what he did during the last available opportunity, when he finished second behind the Spanish rider: "He's very precise in his analysis and always wants to understand what happens on Saturday. I really like this approach of his, but he tried to change this kind of dynamic this weekend."

A special mention goes to Maverick Viñales who, besides the tire pressure penalty, gave a solid performance by taking the KTM to the podium. "It was a relief for many, since there's a lot of work behind it.When things don't work, it creates anxiety, and a result like this - in light of what happened to the parent company and the difficult times we went through - is fresh air that gives you peace of mind, at least until the next round in Jerez," the 33-year-old concluded.
