MotoGP, Aldeguer: "I gave it my all in the Sprint but still want Top 5 for the race."

"This Saturday was useful for learnign several things starting with hand-to-hand and overtaking but, compared to the others, I have less experience. I need to improve in the early laps. Morbidelli proved to be a tough nut."

MotoGP: Aldeguer:

The grip problems Quartararo experienced during the final Sprint Race in Qatar played in favor of Fermin Aldeguer who, at the checkered flag, finished with an honorable 4th place at the end of a solid race with a steady pace.

"I'm very happy with the race and the work carried out," he said. "Now I understand how to behave and how to manage the tires and my body better than at the beginning, even if I still have to be cautious. Since I have no experience, finishing in the top ten is already good. This Saturday afternoon, I gave it my all and gathered information for tomorrow. With twenty-two laps to go, I'll have to try to be careful with the tires, so it's going to be hard to keep up today's pace, but I think our bike is set up well. So, with a good start and the first laps without errors, we could fight for the top positions."

There were definitely some head-to-head battles. "I would've liked to overtake Morbidelli, but he's a tough nut. I passed him at turn five, then he passed me. I had the pace to fight for second place with Marquez. Consequently, if I had done the race differently, maybe I would've made it. In any case, on this occasion, I learned how to deal with hand-to-hands, overtaking, pushing hard, and getting information about the tires. Where can I still improve? In the first part of the race, because I think too much about what the others are doing. Then, the key is to start from a more advanced position," he explained.

About his sensations on the bike the rider from Spain claimed: "Now I feel very good on the Desmosedici. I can it ride as I like and without exaggerating, to the extent that Ducati's data showed that I'm the least aggressive rider on the tires. This somewhat limits me in the time attack but, in the long race, the one that gives the points, I have no problem. However, it's clear that I have to improve on the dry lap, because it's important to start up front.

As a final observation on his day, and on a forecast for the GP, he said: "Halfway through thee race, with the arrival of Frankie and Quartararo, I felt pressure and fatigue, but I wanted to take my chances until the end, and I was waiting for a mistake on their part. At the end of the day, you don't gain or lose much in the Sprint, and I tried to give it my all. What am I aiming for tomorrow? I want the top five."
