MotoGP, Quartararo: "The episode with Morbidelli didn't surprise me, but we clarified everything."

"Good one lap feedback today, however, the lack of rear grip continues to penalize us over the distance. With the higher temperatures, the bike responded well."

MotoGP: Quartararo:

Eleventh in the morning and sixth in pre-qualifying, Fabio Quartararo ended Friday in Qatar all things considered happy. Although not everything went smoothly, the sensations at the wheel of his Yamaha M1 reassured him at least in view of qualifying.

"In the first time attack there was a misunderstanding with the team, so I went very slow, and then went faster in the next two, but it was not a great idea. In fact, I got quite angry. I have to say, though, that in the second one I was really competitive. I pushed hard and in the end a time came that I didn't expect. It was good to feel comfortable at that speed, especially in the afternoon when the bike performed well. With more heat and less rubber on the asphalt there was an improvement also helped by the use of the soft tire," he explained.

Speaking instead about the incident in the morning with Franco Morbidelli, when he was seen making some not exactly good-natured gestures to address the VR46 rider, El Diablo minimized: "I've known him for years so I'm not surprised by his maneuvers. That said, no problem, we've already talked about it together and it's all resolved. However, it bothers me that certain things happen in practice."

Returning to today's performance, however, the Frenchman did not let himself get caught up in elation. "In the last sector I struggled, especially at turn 15, however in the time attack I pushed all the way to the apex and a time came that I did not expect, in fact I was surprised by the lean angle and I touched with my elbow very early arriving at turn 16 at the limit. On the other hand, I think I still have some margin in the second sector, as we used too much power today and it made things worse, while the third is where we suffer the most, especially in fast corners, changes of direction and entry. The problem is the lack of rear grip. We hold up well on the one lap, but over the distance it remains complicated. However, I am quite satisfied for today," he concluded.
