MotoGP: OFFICIAL - Jorge Martin has passed the medical checks: he will race in Qatar

All that was missing was the last official announcement, and now it has arrived: Jorge Martin has passed the last medical checkup and will race in Qatar. About ten days ago, at Austin, the Aprilia rider had explained how his condition was improving and said he wanted to show up in Losail to get back on the RS-GP. He needed the green light from the doctors, however, and finally it came.

Now Jorge will have to undergo a final circuit check to be declared 'fit' by the championship doctors, but this is now a formality.

The Qatar round will be the first Grand Prix for Martin on the Aprilia and he will have to practically discover the bike in the first practice session. In fact, the Spaniard only managed to ride the RS-GP once before, last November in the first test after the last Barcelona GP. Then, in Sepang, he completed just a dozen laps before getting injured. He then suffered another injury in training before leaving for Thailand, thus having to miss the first 3 GPs of the season.

Jorge's 2025 will therefore begin next Friday, on a bike that is also changed from the one he had tested previously. The Qatar appointment will be an opportunity to check his physical condition and start getting to know the RS-GP.

"I'm so eager to get back on track and I'm happy to at least try to race in Qatar," said Martin "The goal will be to start building some confidence with the RS-GP25 and start riding. I don't know what my physical condition will be like, definitely not 100 percent. We will try to do our best and grow slowly. Physically I'm not even sure if I can finish a race, but if we can, it will be a victory because it will mean that I'm starting to recover. We have to take it one step at a time and try to get back to our level as soon as we can."
