MotoGP, Zarco: "Now I have more credibility in the eyes of Honda. I aim to become factory."

"The win at the Suzuka 8 Hours served to show the Japanese how versatile I am. My transition to HRC will depend on Cecchinello. The farewell to Ducati? I preferred a new challenge."

MotoGP: Zarco:

Seventh in the overall standings with 25 points, tied with Trackhouse Racing rider Ai Ogura, Johann Zarco has a lot to be pleased and happy about. Having switched from Ducati Pramac to Honda LCR in 2024, the Frenchman has not only proven to be able to adapt quite quickly to the needs and criticalities of the RC213 V, but after the first three rounds of 2025, thanks to solid and convincing performances, he has put both HRC riders behind him as Luca Marini is ninth on 20 points and Joan Mir down in 15th on 10.

It's a trend that clearly the two-time Moto2 world champion would like to confirm in the coming rounds in the hope of a promotion to the factory team perhaps as early as the next championship.

"The results are increasing my credibility in the eyes of the manufacturer - he said satisfied during the presentation of the French GP - So now the 'goal is to strengthen the bond so as to stay and create an opportunity for me to be promoted to the factory team."

Goodwill, however, is not enough, since as recalled by the 34-year-old himself, the final word regarding his departure will be up to boss Lucio Cecchinello who, in any case, already provides him with an updated bike. "I am convinced that I would be able to manage the situation," he then declared, showing a certain contentment in seeing his indications applied and able to give results.

Irrespective of what he has done and achieved in MotoGP, the Frenchman said he was certain he had gained a good deal of esteem after one particular success. "The victory in the 8 Hours of Suzuka highlighted my adaptive skills and this increased the condition toward me by the manufacturer. Last summer was also good for that," he reiterated before returning to his decision to leave the dominant Desmosedici. "I could have continued and fought for the title, but instead I preferred to accept the challenge of taking Honda back to the top," he concluded.
