SBK: Bulega sets Misano alight: 1'35.5 with the new Ducati V4-S

MotoGP and Superbike were on track today in Misano for a joint training day. Among the participants was also Nicolò Bulega, involved for the occasion with the latest evolution Ducati V4-S, presented last year at WDW.

Not being able to use the SBK, as required by the regulations, the Aruba rider relied on the road version. At the end of the day, we caught up with him, exchanging a few comments.

"It was a really good Thursday," he told us, "the new Panigale V4-S is a very high-performance production bike, with which you get high performance. Compared to the World Championship bike it is different, because this is a standard version with traditional suspension and brakes. Nevertheless, I have to say that this Ducati was born really well."

How different is it from the one you were using before for training?
"The bike changes quite a bit. With the double-sided swingarm, the chassis is different and you feel it in braking and acceleration, where you find an improvement. Obviously you need a different set-up than the previous version, but we have gathered very good feelings."

Speaking of the World Championship, from Portimao we now go to Assen... Everyone expects a new challenge with Toprak...
"Exactly! At Portimao I would have liked to edge Toprak out at least once, but he was very fast. We were close to him, though, and that gives us a good impetus for the next races. Now there is Assen, a track that I like and that perhaps suits my qualities better than Portugal, So we will see how it will go."

Speaking of times: can you confirm that you lapped in 1'35"?
"I lapped in 1'35.5. I'm telling you without any problems, I have nothing to hide (smiles)"

Just for information: the record at Misano with the Superbike is Toprak's 1'32.320.
