In their respective championships, Ferrari and Ducati are fielding heavyweights which make their current lineups the most fearsome of the grid, yet the results achieved are very different, or at least they have been so far. While the Prancing Horse fails to finalize, and we had the demonstration of this in the recent China weekend where Hamilton's victory in the Sprint was nullified by a venial sin committed by the team in the GP complete with the disqualification of both cars, the Borgo Panigale manufacturer with the factory team at worst comes in third or fourth.
Called upon to make a comparison between the two realities, the two Ducati riders were keen to make distinctions. "With us, the human aspect has greater relevance - was Pecco Bagnaia's reflection - It follows that despite its competitiveness in certain situations, the Maranello squad is unfortunately not yet at the level of others. For sure they are improving so much. Leclerc and Lewis or in any case even Carlos Sainz last year are doing and have done a great job, we however as a brand have squared the circle first. Our bike is strong and has been able to win titles at least since 2016/2017, although I personally have only been able to be incisive since 2021. I did not win the last World Championship, however, the manufacturer has excelled in the last three seasons. In my opinion therefore, it is difficult to make a comparison, the only similar thing is that if you race in a Rossa, whether on two or four wheels, you know you are doing it with excellence."
Even less accustomed to bringing the two worlds closer is Marc Marquez. "The similarity? Just the colour. Ham is the strongest driver in Formula 1 from a media point of view, along with Alonso and Verstappen, yet now young drivers like Norris and Russell are coming up. It may seem that the name weighs heavily, but in reality it does not help you to win. As for me, I will try to have the best in my discipline and above all to help the team to try to stay in front, as when you are fast and dictate the pace everything becomes better," was the Cervera ace's sentence.
