MotoGP, Zarco: "The Honda has strong points, I learned to have fun in the difficulties"

One of the most positive notes of this weekend is undoubtedly Johann Zarco. In fact, the Frenchman finished the Argentina GP in sixth position, confirming the steps forward made on the Honda.

So hats off to the effort put in on the track by the LCR rider, who during the first laps tried to stay glued to the leading trio, but then had to give up.

The balance is more than positive and the confidence is great because of what was demonstrated on track.

"I'm very happy," he said, "I was able to make a good start and have confidence, managing among other things to overtake Pecco in the early stages of the race. Then he attacked me again and overtook me, without me being able to respond. As said, however, I am happy, although I do not deny that I am a little disappointed. In fact, I wanted to fight until the end to keep Di Giannantonio behind, but unfortunately I couldn't, as the bike was moving so much. Still, it was a great day: today I tried everything to get on the podium and try to stay with the leaders, but I couldn't do it."

You battled with Bagnaia at the beginning....
"Pecco was riding well, but at the beginning I had great grip and was able to be aggressive. Also, I was surprised by Morbidelli, who overtook me. However, I am happy with what I did, particularly in terms of performance. This weekend we had a great opportunity to be able to be on the podium, and that is an important aspect."

What has changed since Thailand?
"In Thailand the race was positive and I had confidence, while here everything worked well from the beginning. I had a good time and I hope it will be the same in Austin, a track where I am curious to see our level."

What is the step forward you have made with Honda over the winter?
"Now the Honda I ride it well and I try to take advantage of its strengths such as the front, which gives us a lot of confidence. We also have good cornering, in fact we use the throttle well. Unfortunately, the engine is still too weak and as a result we have to push hard, trying to reduce some vibrations."

You mentioned the engine: will there be any upgrade?
"I don't know, for now I have to focus on making the best of what I have available."

Cecchinello said that in LCR you have brought a breath of serenity....
"I'm enjoying myself and I want to take one more step. I am a rider who has learned to have fun even in difficulties."
