MotoGP, Bastianini: "The contact with Fernandez ended my race."

"Without the left wing, the bike started to behave strangely, and with four laps to go I had no more tires because I had tried to make a recovery. I was unlucky because I had a good pace."

MotoGP: Bastianini:

Enea Bastianini crossed the finish line of the GP of Argentina in 18th place and with a lot of regret for what could have been. Despite starting at the back of the grid in 21st place, the Romagna rider was under the illusion of being able to achieve a lot more in this Sunday race, thanks to a sprint that within a few corners had allowed him to make up ground.

Instead, as usual, the devil teaches his tricks but not how to hide them, and the KTM Tech3 rider found himself starting from scratch due to a crash. "My race ended very early," he said in disappointment at the incident, "I was happy because the start was good and I was fighting for 13th place already on the second lap, but Raul Fernandez pushed me out and I crashed. After the episode I went back on track and just tried to get the bike to the finish. I was without a left wing, but nevertheless I had a good pace. I was simply unlucky."

Going back in his mind to the head-to-head with the Trackhouse rider, the former Ducati man said, "On the second lap I took him off at Turn 3, then he came back on at Turns 7 and 8, then at Turn 9 he came very fast and touched me."

Inevitably, the collision compromised the bike. "From the moment of impact it started to behave strangely because of the lack of wing. Otherwise everything was fine except that with four laps to go the tyres dropped a lot having had to push in the middle part of the race in an attempt to recover," he explained.
