The second and final day of Superbike testing in Portimao is highlighting a super Toprak Razgatlioglu. After what he showed yesterday, the Turk is proving to be an absolute protagonist on Saturday morning as well, thanks to a time of 1'39.805. This is what the ranking says: the BMW rider is only one tenth slower than the time he set last August that gave him the pole, while less than two tenths separate him from the official track record that belongs to Johnny Rea in 1'39.610.
Apparently, after the difficulties and stomachaches of Australia, which led the Turk to call Superbike a "Ducati Cup," at Portimao the world champion is laying down the law on the M 1000 RR and the script has been flipped on its head.
It's completely the opposite however for Nicolò Bulega, who had to deal with a nasty fall in turn 11 during the morning. Fortunately, nothing serious for the dominator of the Australian Round, who however has picked up a gap from Toprak of one second and two tenths.
The Aruba rider is eighth in the standings while behind the Turk is his teammate, namely Michael van der Mark, separated from the top by 631 thousandths with Gardner and the GRT Yamaha in third.
Chasing the Australian is Danilo Petrucci, who is the best Ducati on the track with the fourth quickest time, hunted down by Alvaro Bautista, finally in action with the Rossa after being stuck in the pits all day yesterday. For the Spaniard there is a gap of almost one second.
Scrolling down the ranking, in sixth position we can find Lowes (Bimota) with Locatelli (Yamaha) close behind while Yari Montella, author of the ninth time ahead of Sam Lowes, stands out in the top ten.
Out of the top 10 there is instead Axel Bassani, who does not go beyond the eleventh quickest time almost a second and a half from the top. Also among those called upon to play catch-up is Andrea Iannone, only 13th behind Vierge's Honda, while Augusto Fernandez concluded the morning with the 14th time on his second day riding the Yamaha R1.
At 6 p.m. the conclusion of the second day.
