Just hours before the start of the F1 championship, Warner Bros. has broken the deadlines by releasing the trailer for the film of the same name, which will feature Hollywood star Brad Pitt as one of the main characters, along with other actors such as Javier Bardem and Damson Idris. The cast also includes cameos by Lewis Hamilton and Max Verstappen playing themselves. Helming the movie is a guarantee in the name of Joseph Kocinski, already director of high-adrenaline films such as the most recent Top Gun: Maverick, while on the production side, in addition to Apple, we find Jerry Bruckheimer and Lewis Hamilton himself. The soundtrack will be by award-winning composer Hans Zimmer.
The Movie Plot.
Described as "the greatest that never was," Sonny Hayes (Brad Pitt) was the most promising FORMULA 1 phenomenon of the 1990s until a crash on the track nearly ended his career. Thirty years later, he is a nomadic driver for hire when he is approached by his former teammate Ruben Cervantes (Javier Bardem), owner of a struggling FORMULA 1 team on the verge of collapse. Ruben convinces Sonny to return to FORMULA 1 for one last chance to save the team and become the best in the world. He will drive alongside Joshua Pearce (Damson Idris), the team's rookie intent on setting his own pace. But when the engines roar, Sonny's past catches up with him and he discovers that in FORMULA 1 your teammate is your fiercest competitor and that the road to redemption cannot be traveled alone.
Kosinski directs from a screenplay by Ehren Kruger. The film is executive produced by Daniel Lupi. Working with Kosinski behind the scenes is his creative team, including cinematographer Claudio Miranda, set designers Mark Tildesley and Ben Munro, editor Stephen Mirrione, costume designer Julian Day, casting director Lucy Bevan, and composer Hans Zimmer.
Apple Original Films presents a Monolith Pictures / Jerry Bruckheimer / Plan B Entertainment / Dawn Apollo Films production, a Joseph Kosinski F1 film, distributed worldwide by Warner Bros. Pictures, in theaters and IMAX domestically (U.S.) on June 27, 2025, and internationally beginning June 25, 2025.
