MotoGP, Pedro Acosta: "I know why I crashed at Buriram, and it won't happen again."

"Pirelli's arrival resulted in fewer stupid crashes in Moto2 and Moto3, raisinthe performance." Bastianini: "In Thailand I found the way forward after suffering."

MotoGP: Pedro Acosta:

Pedro Acosta arrives in Argentina with the goal of making amends for the disappointing Buriram Sunday. In the long race, the Spaniard was forced to raise the white flag prematurely, having to retire due to a crash. For his part, however, there is an aim of turning the page and start again as soon as possible. So Termas de Rio Hondo could become a perfect opportunity to seize the moment.

"I expect a weekend in which we can do a good job and be competitive," he began, "Friday morning will be interlocutory, since the conditions we will find will be different from the rest of the weekend, plus this is my first time with a MotoGP bike here in Argentina. The last time I raced a Moto2, however, I was fine. So we'll see."

What will be the approach?
"Now I am more focused on finding the right confidence and the right lines to follow on the bike. As already mentioned, on Friday morning we will not find the traditional conditions, in fact we will have to be careful. I still remember 2022, when I crashed during the first lap. So we have to be calm and understand the track conditions. Binder won the Sprint two years ago and we will see what will happen."

Have you analyzed the reason for the crash in Buriram?
"Of course! I understood what happened in Thailand and I think we have worked to make sure it doesn't happen again."

What do you think about Pirelli's arrival for 2027?
"It's part of the business, although all changes are aimed at improvement. I have raced with Dunlop in the past, and as far as I have seen, Pirelli are better, in fact there are fewer stupid crashes in Moto2 and Moto3, especially with cooler temperatures. Also, the tires are faster. I think Pirelli has everything to do a good job given the base of work developed in championships like SBK. Obviously, MotoGP is a different story."

Echoing his words is Enea Bastianini, who in Argentina aims to resume that path taken on Sunday in Buriram, "Honestly I do not know what to expect from this GP - said the Romagna rider - in 2023 I did not race because of the injury and so I am curious to see my approach. In my opinion Termas de Rio Hondo could be a good track for us, considering what Binder has done in the past, as two years ago he won the Sprint and was really very fast."

What are the feelings on the eve?
"The bike has changed from two years ago, but maybe we could be fast as well. I have ridden several times here in Argentina in the past, even with the MotoGP, and we will have to be careful during the first few laps of FP1, which is the first three or four. Then it will be the same as always. I personally hope to be comfortable."

What do you think about the arrival of Pirelli?
"It is an incredible change. The level of MotoGP is very high and I am curious to see the approach of Pirelli as well as the bikes we will have in 2027. For me it will be very different than today."

Enea, what results do you expect from this weekend?
"We have to work step by step and understand our potential for Sunday. The result on Sunday in Buriram was unexpected, as I had suffered a lot on Saturday. However, we took a step and I think it was important. So we want to continue in that direction, knowing that with the right time we can get to our position. Top 5 is my goal, but we have to think about one race at a time."

Finally, a word from Brad Binder, who won the Sprint with the KTM two years ago at Termas de Rio Hondo. "We have to try to work to improve and be able to close the gap to the other riders," said the South African. "Unfortunately, in Buriram we suffered a lot in terms of grip, in fact it was difficult to find the right confidence. Here in Argentina, however, we can make a good step forward with the tires and I want to be confident. So we will see what our potential will be."

Speaking of tires, there is no lack of comments about Pirelli's arrival in MotoGP starting in 2027.
"I think the arrival of Pirelli can be very interesting. Everything will completely change in 2027, and starting immediately with a new manufacturer I think is a reasoned choice that will help."
