MotoGP, Bastianini: "The day was a disaster, I have to improve on everything"

"The difficult conditions did not help us. With the new tires nothing changed, like in Thailand, we have to understand why. We will analyze the data, because Binder was fast today and we weren't."

MotoGP: Bastianini:

Enea Bastianini was certainly hoping for steps forward on the KTM in the second round in Argentina. Steps forward that unfortunately, however, do not yet seem to have arrived, relegating the Rimini native to second to last place, at the bottom of the standings. Irrespective of Q2 in the distant, it is perhaps the more encouraging results of his brand mates such as Binder, today 5th, that are worrying the Italian rider, who since his arrival on the KTM has struggled to square the circle. Perhaps only a careful analysis of the data will be able to settle the doubts, although the fast pace of the MotoGP weekend does not allow for any setbacks  and tomorrow promises to be an intense day between qualifying and sprint race, so getting there prepared or at least in a better condition will therefore be the main objective.

"The day was ... a disaster - said Enea trying to tone it down with sarcasm - it was a difficult day but also the conditions on the track were not the best."

What did you work on today?
"In the morning the track conditions were complicated, then in the afternoon I tried to improve a little bit. At the beginning I was confident because I was faster, but then when I tried to push with the new tires not much changed, everything remained as it was. It also happened to me in the tests in Thailand, and honestly I would like to understand why. It's not clear, but I hope I can solve the problem for tomorrow because I have no desire to start from 20th place on the grid."

Have you tried any alternative solutions?
"We have, but the only way to get to the bottom of it is to analyze the data and compare it with the other riders, because Brad Binder was very fast today and that's important, he was fast and I wasn't, we have to figure out what he does differently."

Do you have a strategy to get back on track ahead of tomorrow?
"Ignoring the data, it will also be important to make a decision about what tires to use, although basically I have to improve on pretty much everything."
