MotoGP, Dall'Igna: "Until the Jerez tests, the GP25 will be similar to the GP24."

"On that occasion the factory riders will try the new features." Alex Marquez: "Today the two bikes are not very different except for the swingarm. We have good tools to do well."

MotoGP: Dall'Igna:

One of the surprises reserved by the Thai GP, the opening round of the 2025 MotoGP season, was definitely Alex Marquez. The Gresini team rider was able to make a stand and after clawing out a second place in the Sprint Race, he even came close to winning the Sunday GP, only to have to yield to his brother Marc, definitely in a state of grace at the Buriram circuit.

Many observers wondered how this was possible given that the eight-time world champion rides a GP25, while the little one of the family has the 'elder sister' in his hands. Well, the answer is to be found in the technical strategy adopted by Ducati, which for the new evolution of the bike decided to keep the same engine design as the GP24 and start the year with the same frame without even altering the aerodynamics.

As the races go on then, the performance gap will widen. For now, the most significant difference can be found in the swingarm. "They are official riders, so they have some new versions. Our version is the one they had until Austria (August, ed.). That is our version of the '24 bike. Some differences, but we have good tools to fight in many races. Maybe for one lap the differences are not really big, to manage the long race they have a small advantage," were the 28-year-old's words as reported by Crashnet.

As of today, it has not yet been disclosed when the first update will be made on the satellite bike, what is certain, however, is that Bagnaia and the dominator of the Thai round will start testing some new parts as early as the Jerez test scheduled for late April. "There is obviously a difference in some details between the factory bikes and the satellite ones. We certainly have other developments planned, which we will try at the Jerez test, so we will do the next four races more or less with this configuration," Gigi dall'Igna confirmed.
