New floods in Spain. Jerez de la Frontera affected.

Authorities have activated the Local Emergency Plan. The Yamaha R9 Supersport bike was supposed to test Angel Nieto circuit.

Moto - News: New floods in Spain. Jerez de la Frontera affected.

A violent flood hit the city Valencia last October, bringing with it death, displaced people, and destruction, even in the areas just outside the Ricardo Tormo circuit that, in mid-November, was supposed to host the last round of the MotoGP.

In the last few hours, Jerez de La Frontera was again overwhelmed and disrupted by the bad weather, with rain and hail,  to the extent that  the authorities were forced to activate the Local Emergency Plan. According to diariodejerez.es, 35 liters of rain fell in just sixty minutes: a very large amount that led to the parks, gardens, outdoor sports facilities, and the zoo being closed.

Regretfully, even bikes were involved. In fact, on Tuesday, March 4th, Yamaha was scheduled to hold a private test at the Angel Nieto track aimed at continuing with the development of the new R9 for the the Supersport championship, with also a press launch for the new bike. Clearly, nothing will come of it now. Our own Marco Caregnato is on the scene.
