MotoGP, Pedro Acosta: "There are still a lot of things to understand about the KTM"

"The rear easily unloads under braking, and we have tire degradation that is not normal. After the crash, I started again to collect data."

MotoGP: Pedro Acosta:

Pedro Acosta finished the race in Thailand in an attempt to figure out what was wrong with the KTM. The outcome was by then compromised after a crash on lap 4, but the Spaniard decided to get back on track and make it to the finish, despite being last.

"We have to understand why always that this year it's easier to raise the rear and lose load - Pedro is unable to explain - It happened when I was behind Bezzecchi, I went wide, I was a little too sideways and I lost the front. It was a pretty normal crash, but we have to understand why it happens, how our bike works."

Right now that seems to be the main limitation of the RC16.

"As always, it's a combination of things, because when you unload the rear logically you push on the front and the bike goes sideways. We have to understand a lot of things we are still missing and then we can be more competitive," is Acosta's goal.

So he tried to use the race as if it were a test, to gather that essential information to try to progress ahead of the next GPs.

"It was for this reason that I restarted," he confirmed, "The pace, in general, was not bad, without the crash I could have finished in the top 5. It's hard to say, but in the end that's what happened and I hope to find something interesting in the data. It was also important to finish the race to see how the tires would behave because we have been in a dramatic situation all weekend. We also need to understand why the degradation is so high, it's not normal."
