MotoGP, Ogura: "The heat is an advantage for me. The only struggle was managing the tires."

"Probably having raced so much in Asia turned out to be helpful. Happy with my physical stability, and my pace was also good up to the finish line."

MotoGP: Ogura:

Ai Ogura was undoubtedly the surprise of the inaugural round of the 2025 MotoGP, coming in 4th at the end of the Sprint Race and 5th at the GP finish line. Devoid of any reverential fears, the reigning Moto2 Champion had a solid weekend in Buriram with very few errors, where he proved to be in better shape than many of his more emblazoned colleagues.

"I'm even happier than yesterday," he said at the end of the race. "I talked to my team on Saturday afternoon, and we said that Sunday would be more complicated because of the greater number of laps, yet, even today, we were still there, so it went well. Surprised with the result? I'd say  Iam."

But it wasn't all a downhill race for the Japanese rider. What bothered him was the tire wear, which was especially noticeable in the final laps. "The tires dropped more than I expected. The last six to seven laps were difficult to handle, but I wasn't worried. In terms of my physical stability, however, I had no problems."

The 24-year-old rider made no secret of the fact that he has one advantage over the competition: that of holding up well in very high temperatures. "Personally, they don't bither me, unlike the others. So I'd say that the most difficult task of the day was managing the tires. I learned a lot from Bagnaia yesterday and, today, I just replicated it. The pace turned out to be pretty good all the way to the finish line."

When asked why he can handle the heat well, the Trackhouse Racing rider said, "Maybe it's because I did so many races in Asia when I was a kid."
