MotoGP, Brivio: "Ogura is exciting, there are no words to describe our joy"

The rookie came close to a podium finish in the first Sprint in Thailand: "I didn't dream of anything more. Ai is a very smart guy, this performance is the result of his working method."

MotoGP: Brivio:

Davide Brivio has always liked working with young riders, discovering new talent, and he seems to have succeeded one more time. In the battle of the rookies in the first Sprint of the year, Ai Ogura put together a performance worthy of a consummate racer, not a rookie just out of the gate. He started from the second row and finished within a step of the podium, taking the satisfaction of remaining close to Bagnaia to the very end. Not to mention that he was clearly the best Aprilia rider with his 4th place, the only one in the points.

Brivio's eyes sparkled when talking about the result, "obviously it's a big surprise in a positive way for us as well, we were expecting a little longer apprenticeship. It's only the first race, the first Sprint, but qualifying went well, also the start and he stayed there. But to do the whole race with Pecco, behind the top three ... there are no words to describe our joy."

A boost of confidence was needed for the Trackhouse team after a 2024 season below expectations, and Ogura seems to promise a lot of satisfaction in the future.

"He is the Moto2 world champion, we knew he is a talented rider, but I didn't expect to see him in those positions so quickly," admits Brivio. "We did a good job during the winter and he is a very smart guy, he has a very calm approach, he wants to understand and learn. It's nice and exciting to work with him and I think this performance is a result of his method."

Was there hope of getting on the podium? "Honestly, today more than anything else I was telling myself that this was more than enough," Brivio answers with a smile, "I wasn't dreaming of anything else. It went beyond our wildest expectations."

Tomorrow will be the litmus test in the GP. "Let's enjoy the moment, tomorrow is another day, but in the meantime we brought this result home," concluded Davide.
