MotoGP, Ezpeleta: "People like the show, but the races remain our raison d'être."

"The presentation in Bangkok was liked, but we can improve it and we will do it again. The Bagnaia vs. Marquez challenge? It excites me, but they won't be the only protagonists. The 2027 regulations? it was the right time, it's our fourth change, the issue of aerodynamics and lowerers had to be solved."

MotoGP: Ezpeleta:

Speaking in Milan for the presentation of Sky's 2025 motorsport season, we met up with with Carmelo Ezpeleta. The Dorna CEO, who is firmly at the helm of the Spanish company that has been following and managing the SBK and MotoGP world championships for years, said he was pleased with the decisions taken, such as the change in the regulations that will come into effect in 2027, in part to put a brake on aerodynamics and lowerers in a development that has made giant strides in the space of a decade. But there have been many new things introduced in recent years, the latest being the MotoGP presentation in Bangkok of all the teams and riders for the 2025 season.

"This will be season number 34 for me, but every year the excitement is better," Ezpeleta began.

The first new feature of the year was the MotoGP presentation in Bangkok.
"We think it went very well, we understood a lot of things and we will definitely do it again next year. I know the fans really liked it, although there are definitely things we can do better and we will."

Is the road mapped out, as with Formula 1, to have more entertainment?
"No, it is clear that the most important thing remains the races, they are the raison d 'être of all of us."

Are the concessions, which you also strongly wanted, working?
"I think so, certainly they could work even better, but I think it was good to do them."

Everyone's eyes are on the challenge between Bagnaia and Marquez this year, does that excite you?
"I think they won't be the only protagonists this season, there won't be just the two of them. I'm thinking of Aprilia but also the other Ducatis."

Ducati has chosen to go back on its steps, and this year we will see six Ducati 2024s on the track. Will it be stronger than before or less?
"I don't know, but it will certainly be strong."

Instead, are you concerned about KTM's economic situation?
"I'm not worried, it's clear the company is in a difficult moment, but the racing division doesn't worry me. We are also starting to talk about renewing the agreement from 2027 to 2031."

2027 will bring with it a major change in the regulations.
"I'm very excited about it, it' s the fourth big change we've made, it's always gone well in the past and I think it will go well this time as well. It was the right time to change, especially to solve the issue of aerodynamics and lowerers as well," the Spaniard concluded.
