After the two test days on Monday and Tuesday, the manufacturers requested that Dorna eliminate the flag-to-flag. The reason was very simple: the tires brought by Pirelli for the Australian round allowed the entire race distance to be covered without the need for a mandatory stop.
Today, the organizer evaluated the proposal, but ended up rejecting it. So, Race 1 and Race 2 will be held with a tire change, as originally planned.
This decision left both riders and manufacturers perplexed. But, Dorna won, and there's no backtracking from there.
