Just days before the start of MotoGP and World Superbike Championships, FMI President Giovanni Copioli welcomed Dorna Sports CEO Carmelo Ezpeleta today at the headquarters of the Italian Motorcycle Federation.
The meeting, held during the Federal Council meeting, was an opportunity to highlight and enhance the excellent relationship between the Federmoto and Dorna. Copioli and Ezpeleta dwelt on the value of mutual commitment to the growth of our sport and the ability of Italian motorcycling to always be at the top of international speed. During the Federal Council meeting, Ezpeleta went on to emphasize the incredible capillarity of the IMF's work, which is successfully realized in sports activities but also in institutional, promotional and user-facing initiatives.
"I thank Carmelo for honoring us with his presence. Our relationship, which has always been excellent, has strengthened over the years and having him with us today is a source of pride - said Giovanni Copioli, FMI President - Dorna Sports has done a great deal for the growth of motorcycling globally: it has brought MotoGP to the levels we all know, but above all it has the goal of taking it higher and higher. I am happy that Italy is a reference point in their organization, as demonstrated by the many MotoGP and Superbike races held in our country. Dorna is a reality that never stops and this I believe can be an inspiration for everyone. It is a philosophy shared by the Italian Motorcycling Federation, which, just like the company Carmelo heads, aims at an ever wider diffusion of motorcycling, both in terms of visibility and in terms of values and passion. It is a constant commitment that sees us engaged in all aspects. Just think, in the sports sphere, of the support for young people with the Pata Talenti Azzurri project and the organization of high-level championships."
"It was a great pleasure to be able to speak at the FMI Federal Council ," added Carmelo Ezpeleta, CEO Dorna Sports. "Italy is the only nation in the world present in MotoGP since its origins in 1949, and this Council is an example of how Federmoto still works with the utmost commitment. Italy is an example for all nations not only in the sphere of speed but also in other contexts; I am thinking of the signing of numerous memorandums of understanding with entities and institutions, the diffusion of Road Education among young people and all the projects related to users. Personally, I hope that, thanks to the global growth that MotoGP is enjoying, and which aims to be increasingly vast, the MotoGP will reach a general public, not just motorsport fans. This is already happening in Italy, but it needs to happen all over the world."
