SBK, The manufacturers don't want the flag-to-flag: request made to Dorna

The tyres have proven to be able to cover the entire race distance, so the tyre change makes no sense, also considering the dangerous nature of the pit lane. Now the ball is in the hands of the Organizer.

SBK: The manufacturers don't want the flag-to-flag: request made to Dorna

The manufacturers have made their voices heard, making a request to Dorna to eliminate the flag-to-flag for Superbike Race 1 and Race 2 at Phillip Island. As is well known, following last year's events with blistering and sudden tyre wear, Dorna decided to introduce the mandatory tyre change as a precautionary measure.

However, as far as we have seen in these two days, the tyres brought by the Italian manufacturer to the track have surprised the teams and riders, who have managed to cover the entire race distance without any problems of wear and blistering.

So in this regard, the manufacturers have specifically asked Dorna to cancel the flag-to-flag, allowing them to conclude the 20 continuous laps.

It now passes into the hands of Gregorio Lavilla, who will have to decide on the matter. In addition to tyre durability, another aspect underlined ed was the dangerous nature of the pit lane, which is very narrow and with the pits practically close to each other.
