The 2025 SBK World Championship will get underway this weekend at Phillip Island, and as things stand it looks like Nicolò Bulega could play the role of clear favorite to become the world champion and bring the title back to Borgo Panigale. We say this because at the end of the long winter testing season, Bulega finished ahead of everyone, consistently demonstrating a pace that is unapproachable for anyone. Toprak Razgatlioglu tried to respond under all circumstances, but BMW's current level of competitiveness does not seem to be the same as the one that allowed the Turk to dominate during 2024.
But there is not only Bulega in the role of favorite, because Iannone, Petrucci and Bautista have also confirmed how effective the Panigale is at Phillip Island, a track that is, however, so special that it can be considered a kind of case apart. They will also have to keep an eye on the Bimota bikes of Lowes (a genuine Phillip Island specialist) and Bassani who has never been very fast in testing, but who knows how to put together a podium race pace.
We hear everything happening at Phillip Island from our correspondent Riccardo Guglielmetti in the company of Denis Sacchetti of Go Eleven.
