MotoGP, Bezzecchi: "Martin's absence worried me, but Aprilia gave me confidence"

"The RS-GP's excellent front end has made my adaptation easier, but I still need to improve over the one lap." Then he jokesd "If the first race was tomorrow? I wouldn't race, I'm too tired!"

MotoGP: Bezzecchi:

There still remains the last afternoon of winter testing at the Buriram track, but Bezzecchi can already draw the sums of this start of 2025. "In Thailand the balance is positive, but it was also positive in Malaysia," he said confidently. In his new role as an official rider for Aprilia he feels comfortable and, despite Martin's absence due to injury, he was able to carry out the work as planned and adapt to the RS-GP.

"I felt good on the Aprilia from the first test in Barcelona," Marco underlined, "Of course, the adaptation takes time and I still have to conclude it in some areas, but it is a bike that immediately gave me confidence in the front and this allows you to get used to it well because everything comes easier. Honestly, with the new tires I'm still struggling because the bike reacts differently, so the process is not yet complete."

What are you still looking for?
"This morning I made two time attacks, but I made some mistakes. With new tires, the bike becomes more nervous and I have to understand better how to ride it. I don't feel I have everything under control yet, sometimes I do what I was used to in the past in riding. This is something I will have to keep working on, but at the same time I am happy because we have tried and developed so many things."

You seem satisfied.
"It has been a positive winter, especially after what happened in Malaysia. After Jorge's injury everyone was worried, including me because it was my first time as an official rider and I didn't really know what to do. Fortunately, they gave me a lot of confidence and it was good for me to perceive this attitude toward me, it gave me motivation. I'm in a positive environment, it's completely different from what I was used to, but I found a lot of good people, I'm not just talking about those who work on the track, but also those at home."

How are you arriving at the first race of the year?
"Quite ready. I feel good and want to finish the last details at home. I feel like racing, I got a little tired of doing 3,000 laps a day in testing."

Have you been able to get a clear idea of the form factor?
"Testing is always peculiar, it's always difficult to understand the work each rider is doing. This morning almost everyone did the time attack and someone will try again later, but we don't care that much, we have to look at ourselves to understand everything we have done, analyze everything and prepare for the race."

If the first race was tomorrow, where would you be?
"I'm tired, I wouldn't do it! (laughs). On used tires I kept a good pace, but it's also true that I haven't tried to do more laps in a row and I will do that in the afternoon. It will be an important test to evaluate the behavior of the bike with tire wear because in Malaysia we experienced some problems. Let's see, fortunately the first race is not tomorrow (laughs)."

You start the championship very differently from 2024.
"Last year I struggled quite a bit in winter testing, I was not able to find positive feelings about the bike and went home quite worried. Now I go home pleased with myself because of how I worked, I found myself in a complicated situation and handled it quite well. I had fun riding and enjoyed it, I needed to let off steam. However, I am aware that there is still a lot of work to be done."
