MotoGP, Bezzecchi: "In an official team everything changes, I like this pressure"

"It's an emotion and a responsibility. I am adapting to the Aprilia, I have to find different automatisms to the past. Today I want to finish testing all the new material and tomorrow prepare for the GP."

MotoGP: Bezzecchi:

After Jorge Martin's injury in the Sepang tests, Marco Bezzecchi has found himself with the responsibility of doing virtually all the development work of the Aprilia 2025 on his shoulders. For the Romagna native it is the first time in an official team, but for the moment he seems to be comfortable in this role. Putting the three-day Sepang test behind him, today he began the final two days of winter testing in Buriram, the track on which the first Grand Prix will be held in a couple of weeks' time.

"We started with a base very similar to Sepang, then we tried some new material and there's more for the afternoon because I would like to finish all the work today to focus tomorrow on GP preparation," he explained during the lunch break. "These are the plans, we worked very well in Malaysia and I hope to be able to give accurate comments so we don't have to make more comparisons tomorrow. The track has different characteristics, this one is more stop and go, so it can help us to work on braking, where we had some problems."

Bezzecchi speaks calmly and confidently, aware of the work he will have to do today and tomorrow.

"In Sepang everything was new for me, it was strange, I had never had the chance to develop a MotoGP bike. It was a great emotion, but also a great responsibility," he admitted, "In Malaysia everything went well, apart from losing Jorge, and here we also started well. We will have less time, so we have to be even more precise, but the guys are working very well. There is some pressure, I like that, but in the end it's just a test and I prefer to race."

It's not long before the race debut and Marco is figuring out more and more what to do on the RS-GP to get the most out of it.

"I would say that I'm at a pretty good level, today I understood a couple of things that I missed in Malaysia, more than anything else I was able to put them into practice in riding," he assured, "This has given me a good hand, although it's obvious that the Aprilia is a different bike from the one I was used to and so the automatisms change a bit. But I have to say that I am gaining confidence and this allows me to push myself further and understand how the bike responds."

The disappointing 2024 seems to have been put behind him and Bezzecchi seems to be back to the levels of 2023. "I'm the Bezzecchi of 2025," he smiled, "I wouldn't know what to say, actually I've changed everything, everything is very different. I will obviously try to be my best version all year long. The working method in the garage is different, but it's in a positive way, I liked it. The guys work well, they are very professional, being in an official team you can feel it."

All that remains is to continue on this path and prepare for the GP, with the heat sure to be protagonist.

"It's very cold in Italy now, but I've tried to prepare as best I can. We will see how it will be to ride in the afternoon, but I will still have time to modify my preparation if necessary. This test is also very important to understand my physical condition," he concluded.
