SBK: Finally unveiled: the Bimota KB998 of Bassani and Lowes

It could only be Bimota headquarters in Cerasolo, in the province of Rimini, the stage on which to unveil the KB998. The bike with which this year the Romagna-based manufacturer will make its long-awaited return to the starting grids of World Superbike, under the banner of the Bimota by Kawasaki Racing Team.

Right in the heart of the Motor Valley, Axel Bassani and Alex Lowes took away the drapes from the livery that will dress the two KB998s entrusted to the Provec team in 2025. A color scheme in which black, white and red already seen on the road version of the KB998 Rimini, embellished with a few touches of blue, will take center stage.

Colors that the two riders will try to make shine after surprising everyone in the winter tests in Jerez and Portimao, where they immediately obtained good results on the timesheets with the bike born from the close collaboration between Kawasaki and Bimota. A clean break with the past represented by the Ninja ZX-10RR, of which the KB998 retains only the inline four-cylinder engine developed by the Akashi manufacturer.

Doing the honors could only be Pierluigi Marconi, i.e., the father of the KB998 Rimini: "A competition bike needs a high-performance engine and electronics, as well as a chassis that can make the tires work at their best. Finally, you need aerodynamics that enhance the character of the engine, providing the most grip on entry and exit. All these aspects put together represent our bike."

Next to take the floor was Guim Roda: "This is a new challenge, but our working group remains the same. We will try to exploit the maximum potential of the new one, knowing that we have a very good package, thanks to the Kawasaki engine and the effort put in by Bimota. Expectations? To win!"

The word then went to the riders, "This bike is really great and I can't wait to get back on the track," said Bassani, "I'm excited, aware that we have a great package. Compared to last year, the KB998 is a completely new bike and I think we can do a great job."

Echoing him was Alex Lowes: "We are very excited about this new chapter," he said, "the Bimota has great potential and we have already seen that in winter testing. We did a great job at Jerez and all we have to do is continue in the direction we have taken."
