MotoGP: Tests over for Raul Fernandez: he will fly to Barcelona tonight for surgery

The plastered hand and the expression on Raul Fernandez's face say more than a thousand words. The Trackhouse team rider crashed this morning at Turn 9, suffering a fracture of the 5th metacarpal in his left hand, as well as a fractured toe on his left foot. The Spaniard was examined at the circuit and has decided to return to Spain. He will take a flight this evening to Barcelona and will be seen tomorrow morning by Dr. Xavier Mir.

The intention is to have surgery so as to reduce the recovery time. Raul suffered a similar injury (to his right hand) in the past and was able to return to riding a few days after the operation. The hope for him is to be able to be on the Aprilia as early as the tests in Buriram, Thailand, scheduled for February 12 and 13. For the moment it is too early to make predictions; updates will be forthcoming tomorrow.
