The 2025 season has gotten off to a decidedly bad start for Jorge Martin. The reigning MotoGP world champion was involved in two crashes during the first day of testing at the Sepang circuit during which, in theory, he was supposed to get dialled in with his new Aprilia, still unfamiliar terrain for him.
Instead, first he ended up on the ground at Turn 1 getting up promptly, while later at Turn 2 he was unfortunate protagonist of a spectacular and horrific highside which left its mark. Immediately taken to the hospital and subjected to all the necessary checks, he received the bitter news that will force him to set out on the road destination Europe.
According to the official note released by the Noale-based team, the Spaniard suffered two compound fractures, the first to the fifth metacarpal of his right hand, and the second to the third, fourth and fifth metatarsals of his left foot. All the other tests were negative, but two reduction surgeries will be necessary for him.
