MotoGP, Bezzecchi: "The latest developments on the 2025 Aprilia have convinced me."

"I immediately preferred the updated bike. With the RS-GP I regained my effectiveness in braking, a quality I had lost last year. I already ride naturally, but there is work to be done."

MotoGP: Bezzecchi:

At Sepang the first day of testing of the new year has been taking centre stage. It was a Wednesday that was certainly not easy for Aprilia however, which had to deal with the accidents of Martin and Fernandez, the latter having to undergo surgery. In fact, it was Marco Bezzecchi who ended up by being responsible for all the work for the Noale manufacturer. For his part, there is a lot of confidence in the work done. "It was a good morning," he began, speaking to the press during the lunch break, "we started with the Barcelona bike and then moved on to the new one, so as to understand everything. In the end I liked the latter better and afterwards we continued to work on that one. At the moment we are a little behind because there are so many things to try. Still, the bike gives me good feelings, especially at the front, knowing that there are some things I have to adapt to."

How big is the step compared to the Aprilia at Barcelona.
"I think it's a small step forward, but it's still early to say more. Personally I felt good, in fact all the things I tried were better. However, I need time to evaluate and understand what to keep or not."

What changes from last season's Ducati GP23?
"This bike turns much more than last year's bike. For sure we have to solve some problems on the rear, it moves a lot, I felt it already at Montmeló. However, I think it's a mix between tires and electronics, although I don't have the experience to take stock of that."

What, on the other hand, is the aspect that has impressed you the most?
"In braking I felt good, in fact I felt strong, since I had lost this quality last year. Obviously we need to work in other parts, such as aerodynamics and electronics."

The engine, on the other hand, is promoted, right?
"Italians are good with the engine (smiles)."

Marco, how do you explain all these crashes?
"I honestly don't know. Here we don't have many soft tires on the rear and I only used the medium in the morning, which is a pretty difficult tire for the grip we find. So I don't know what the other riders' crashes were due to, also because the grip of the track is good."

Have you had any updates on what happened to Martin?
"I honestly wouldn't know what the picture is and the reason for the crash. Let's wait for Jorge and hope it's nothing serious."

How does it feel, on the other hand, to walk into the pit and see all that array of engineers and mechanics there for you?
"It's nice, very nice. It's strange to see even three bikes. Hopefully the bikes will become two, since we have one set aside. I've seen a lot of desire from everyone and there's a good atmosphere. I'm still not used to it, but I hope to be soon."

Is the adjustment to the Aprilia coming from the Ducati a long one?
"Definitely there is an adaptation phase to do. The bike offers good feelings, so as a result I can ride naturally. Of course then, looking at the data, I understand what the other Aprilia riders were doing last year or Fernandez, who has more experience on this bike. For sure there will be work to do, but they are here on purpose. In fact, we do fast runs so we can try everything."
