Danilo Petrucci says good-bye to Portimão and looks towards Australia. The two days in Portugal hasn't entirely dissolved the doubts of the rider from Terni, but he wants to be confident before the start of the World Championship.
Today, the Barni rider didn't take to the track, however, he finished eighth yesterday, seven tenths behind Toprak's BMW.
"In this month of January, I've only had one real test day, which was the one in Jerez," he said. "Yesterday, there were rivulets of water on the track, plus it was cold, and the wind was very annoying. We found something but, in the end, we didn't do much today. As soon as I mounted the slicks, it started raining immediately."
What can you tell us about the new lowered exhaust?
"It's really difficult to give an opinion. Because of the conditions, we couldn't really understand the differences with the previous one, consequently, we have to review it."
What are the feelings beore Australia?
"Personally, I feel good, and I'm confident for Australia, considering that the only work to be done are details."
Who's the favorite for Phillip Island?
"I'd say Bulega. He was very fast last year, and I expect him up there in front with Toprak and Bautista again, but I want to be there with them as well, since I was on the podium in Race 2 last year."
How sorry are you to have tested so little?
"To tell the truth, I didn't know how I'd come back from the Dakar. In fact, I was worried on a physical level. Instead, I did half Dakar and half pre-season so, tomorrow, you have to train me," he said jokingly. "Personally, I'm not a fan of testing, and I'd say one day was enough," he smiled. "Joking aside, I feel bad, because I would've liked to improve the set-up, but I think we can do a great job in Australia."
