Brembo is celebrating 50 years of success and innovation in the world of motorsport. To celebrate this important milestone, the company has planned a series of special events and initiatives that will take place throughout the year. These unmissable moments will be dedicated to telling an extraordinary story of passion and innovation, bringing to the forefront an unwavering commitment to excellence in two- and four-wheel racing. "We are proud to celebrate this anniversary in the world of racing," said Matteo Tiraboschi, Executive Chairman of Brembo. "Thanks to 50 years of experience at the highest level, today all Formula 1 and MotoGP teams choose Brembo. The data collected by our engineers show that the winner is often not who goes faster, but who brakes better."
50 years of innovation and leadership in motorsport

Brembo's history in Motorsport racing can be compared to a fairy tale, consisting of 50 chapters, in which the company has always made its mark. The most important year is 1975, when Brembo supplied the first cast iron discs in Formula 1 to Scuderia Ferrari. That very year, it was Niki Lauda aboard the historic 312 T that brought the drivers' title back to Maranello after 11 years. In 1976, the company also entered two-wheel racing, supplying brake calipers to Team Suzuki Gallina - which would win its first race as early as 1978 - in the 500cc class, later to become MotoGP. The 1980s were a period of great ferment and innovation, when Brembo introduced the first 4-piston radial mount caliper in Formula 1 and obtained its first patent for the radial master cylinder in the 500 class. But it didn't stop there: the company entered other prestigious motorsport championships, such as WSBK in 1988, the 24 Hours of Le Mans and IndyCar in 1989. In the 1990s, Brembo engineers continue to push the limits of technology. In fact, for motorcycles, they design the first one-piece caliper - machined from a single block of aluminum - for Honda's 500-class team and develop a thumb-operated rear brake master cylinder, created especially for champion Mick Doohan and later adopted by many other great riders. From 1995, Brembo dominated the scene, winning every race in the 500 class and, later, in MotoGP. Finally, at the end of the decade, Brembo introduced the first carbon discs in Formula 1, consolidating its leadership.
A new millennium, new successes
With the new millennium, Brembo continues to innovate and expand. The company becomes a major player in championships such as the Motocross and Enduro World Championships and introduces Brake by Wire in Formula 1 in 2014. It also became the sole supplier of Indycar in 2011, the supplier of all MotoGP teams in 2016, and the supplier, with calipers, of all ten Formula 1 teams in 2022, including nine supplied by Brembo and one supplied by AP Racing, a company based in the United Kingdom but part of the Group. Between 2018 and 2019, Brembo becomes the sole supplier of braking systems for the two major electric motorsport championships, Formula E and Moto E. In 2024, the company celebrates an unprecedented record: more than 700 world titles won in major competitions.
Brembo and the great champions

Over the years, Brembo has accompanied numerous drivers and teams to historic milestones.Notable among the many "firsts" are that of May 15, 2016, when Max Verstappen became the youngest winner of a Formula 1 Grand Prix with Brembo brakes, and that of April 21, 2013, with Marc Márquez taking his first victory in MotoGP, riding a bike equipped with Brembo brakes. Going back through the years, it is worth mentioning Valentino Rossi, 9 world championships won, all with Brembo braking systems, while in October 2000 Michael Schumacher brought the Formula 1 world title back to Ferrari after 21 years, relying totally on the company's braking components. From Jonathan Rea's 6 consecutive world championships in WorldSBK to Tony Cairoli's 9 in Motocross and Ferrari's two consecutive victories in the Hypercar category of the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 2023 and 2024, Brembo continues to be a protagonist of glorious achievements in multiple motorsport competitions of two and four wheels.
Global leadership with Italian roots
In addition to a history of sporting triumphs, Brembo has been able to grow as a global group, acquiring prestigious companies such as Marchesini, AP Racing, SBS Friction, J.Juan and the newly arrived Öhlins, a leader in racing suspension, original equipment and aftermarket two- and four-wheelers. The Group's expansion process over the years has led it to a dual position today: leader in motorsports competition and Solution Provider for all customers and equipped teams. Brembo, founded in 1961 in Paladina (BG), is today a global company with an Italian heart. In more than 60 years of history, the company has always cultivated values such as passion, performance and innovation. Virtues that today, in the year of celebration of 50 years in the Racing universe, make Brembo a Made in Italy excellence in the world, but always able to maintain a strong link with its territory.
The year of celebrations will be accompanied by a new logo, dedicated specifically to the 50-year anniversary of Brembo in the Racing world: an identifying lettering, focused on the number, simple, but able to generate an immediate meaning.
