The beautiful scenery of Madonna di Campiglio hosted again this year the presentation of the new Ducati MotoGP, but unlike in recent times, the air turned out to be crisp because of or thanks to the pair of riders that will line up for the Borgo Panigale manufacturer, namely two undisputed champions such as Bagnaia, now a veteran of the team, and Marquez, who has just arrived at Lenovo, but is already expected as an absolute protagonist.

Pecco, what are your feelings?
"Maybe the wake-up call was a little too early, but we had a great time. This is a fantastic event. For the first time I am here with Marc and I am getting to know him. We talked a lot about our lives these days. What have I learned? That he has a dog that is a climber, he showed me videos and he is always hunting for food."

When did you first meet him?
"We were on the Castelloli track. He was with the KTM. They told me to keep an eye on him because he was strong and could win. That year (it was 2010, ed.) he won the 125 title."

Was the Portugal crash a crucial episode for you?
"If I had not crashed I would have finished fifth and with 12 good points for the World Championship."

What are Marc's qualities that you admire?
"How he approaches circuits. Last year at Aragon he was very fast from the start. He gave everyone eight tenths of a second. Secondly, I appreciate how he approaches the corners. He has a completely different style from the others. I tried to imitate him, but every time I lost the front."

Comparing information is important...
"I look at the data of all competitive Ducati riders, because some have more effective solutions than mine. For example, last season in Jerez I learned a lot from Marc in the way he approached turns 7 and 8. Since he passed me the first time I could observe him and it was very useful. If you want to progress quickly you have to share information among everyone, a bit like Kalex does in Moto2. The comparison allows you to check more solutions. If you are very competitive on a circuit or in something everyone copies you, but you accept it. It's a double-edged sword."

Let's move on to some quick questions... Skiing or snowboarding?
"Skiing.

Salami or chorizo?
"Salami.

Cappuccino or café con leche?
"Cappuccino."

Prosecco or cava?
"Prosecco."

Entrance or exit of a curve?
"Entrance."

Study your own data or other people's?
"Mine."

Aragon or Mugello?
"Mugello."

Risotto or paella
"Risotto."

Pasta with parmesan or without?
"With."

Who was responsible for last year's Portimao accident?
"I prefer to be polite."

If you crash do you want the other guy to win or not?
"Yes, for Ducati."

Lowerer or flaps?
"Lowerer."

Win by 30 seconds or by milliseconds?
"By milliseconds."

Pineapple pizza or not?
"No, it's illegal."

Tardozzi says you shouldn't always be a gentleman....
"When there is a need not to be I am not, but it is difficult to change one's character. It's more a matter of being aggressive or not. In some situations I am, but if it is impossible to get what I want I don't insist."

What would you ask Marquez?
"I have already asked him, but he has never answered me, which is what is his secret for dealing with left turns."

The next appointment together with your teammate will be the Sepang test....
"This is the most complex time of the year because you have to prepare well, so in the next few days I will train hard. However, I'm not afraid. In Barcelona I was pleased to learn that we shared the same feelings in the saddle and that we will be able to continue development in the same direction. In 2024 I had struggled at first, but this time with him we can get used to the new bike quickly."

In Thailand who will win?
"I don't know, I hope there will be a good battle. In the last edition the conditions were complex in spite of the high level of grip. I hope we can be in the game. If the tests go well we can have our say. Buriram is a good track for the Desmosedici and we will have to maximize."
