MotoGP, WRT's Vosse: "Having Rossi win a 10th title would be great."

"Valentino doesn't race for fun, he races to win. In the test with the BMW Hypercar, he was really fast. The car was perfect for his riding style, and he was at the top of the time list."

MotoGP: WRT's Vosse:

For Valentino Rossi, 2025 will be very busy for Valentino Rossi, since he'll be back on track with the WRT team on a BMW in the LMGT3 World Endurance Championship. At almost 46 years of age, the Doctor, who recently became a father for the second time, doesn't let his guard down and is ready to seek affirmation on four wheels as well, with a truly exemplary commitment, given the difficulties of the category he's chosen. In late 2024, Rossi tested a BMW M8 Hybrid LMDh in Bahrain, seeing that his dream of participating in a 24H of Le Mans with a prototype remains more vivid than ever.

Our colleagues at Crash.net interviewed Vincent Vosse, the owner of Team WRT that gave Valentino the opportunity to start racing as a professional on four wheels, giving life to a career among cars that could have started even much earlier since, back in 2006, Rossi tested a Ferrari to consider a definitive move to Formula 1. But the story, as we all know, went differently.

"First of all, Vale was racing in the GT World Challenge, racing in the pro category, and he won races in the pro category in Misano," Vosse said. "To be on the podium in some races, fighting in the pro category, was already be an outstanding achievement. He's doing a remarkable job in the WEC, as a silver driver, of course, since he's now starting his fourth season. We didn't have an easy season in the WEC. We only won at Imola in special conditions. But Valentino the car driver doesn't want to race for fun, he wants to win."

According to Vosse, trying to win on four wheels is also the motivation that keeps the flame alive for Rossi.
"He races to be competitive and that's what keeps him motivated. It's those moments when he realizes he's competitive that drives him. I think the joy he has when he wins a race is not the joy of winning but the joy of having proven that he can be as competitive as his teammates. For someone who's about to turn forty-six, it's something ... I think when, certain top sportsmen decide to do something, they decide to do it the right way and not halfway. Not just to have fun, not just to do something different, but to do it and be competitive, that's where you see great champions. And he's a great champion."

Vosse then talked his satisfaction after the test with the BMW Hypercar.
"Vale wants to be competitive. Whether in the Hypercar or GT, he wants to be competitive and win. If we switch to Hypercar now, we're obviously starting from behind, and we have to close the gap. Vale did the test in Bahrain and, of course, he was fast! It was outstanding. The car adapts exactly to what he needs to be fast. He was very enthusiastic, and the smile he had as he got out of the car hinted at a race win, just because he had been competitive. He was simply somewhere at the top of the time list, where he always wants to be, and it's very difficult for a sportsman like him not to see his name at the top of the list."

Vosse's dream would be to give Rossi his tenth title, on four instead of two wheels.
"A lot of people thought that the right car to win would be the forty-six last year. Instead, it was the thirty-one that, for me, as a team manager, isn't a bad thing. But having Valentino in one of our cars, it would be great to see him get his tenth world championship title, it would be my personal satisfaction. But our first job will be to make both cars competitive, not just one."
