While from the top everyone is continuing to express reassurances about the fate of KTM within MotoGP at least in the 2025 season, the twists and turns just keep on coming. The gale-force air that has been blowing for some time now in Mattighofen and overshadowing the company's future has now led to a major exit, that of Marc Coma.
Appointed head of the Iberian subsidiary after retiring from competition in 2015, the longtime Dakar star on two wheels has decided to leave without, however, letting his ill feelings show.
"KTM has always represented something more to me than just a brand: it’s been a family. Together, we achieved things that many believed were impossible. My time with KTM, whether racing through the desert or working alongside the incredible teams in the office, with dealers, and customers, will always hold a special place in my heart. But now is the right time to explore new challenges and opportunities," were his words entrusted to an official note.
For its part, the company merely thanked him, noting how much he had "contributed to the success and growth of Pierer Mobility's products."
For Florian Kecht, a member of the Austrian company's executive committee, the 48-year-old "is a true champion, both inside and outside of racing. His influence has left an indelible mark on the company, the rally world and racing in general." And after expressing regret for the decision made, he finally added that he was confident that the Spaniard "will continue to excel in his next chapter."
