In the past few days we told you about the risk that BMW was taking, related to the latest M 1000 RR chassis. As we know, in 2024 the Munich-based manufacturer brought the new bike to the market, in fact presenting a new homologation.
BMW's goal was to take advantage of the chassis deployed in the races, the result of Superconcessions, at the next World Superbike Championship. This news did not go down well for the other manufacturers, who made themselves heard through the MSMA, as well as at Dorna and the FIM, since the incriminated component was not faithful to what is the production model.
The fact remains that the affair and the point of the regulation has finally been clarified. According to what we have learned, Dorna and FIM have rejected the "superconcession" chassis that BMW wanted to use this year in World Superbike, deeming it as not regular.
This news did not go down at all well with the top management of the German manufacturer, who will have to backtrack, thus opting for the one present on the production model.
Apparently Dorna and FIM have not compromised on the matter, in fact reiterating what is the nature of Superconcessions, that is, a means of helping the most struggling teams so that they can close the gap from those that show greater competitiveness. In the past year BMW has practically dominated World Superbike, no longer being relegated to the bottom of the class, so as a result this is the motivation behind this decision.
