SBK, Bongers: "We know Toprak might leave BMW, replacing him will be difficult."

"Toprak needs challenges, because otherwise he gets bored quickly. We still don't know what he will do in 2026, but we are certainly aware that he will not stay in BMW to win five World Championships."

SBK: Bongers:

Yesterday we spoke about what could be the future of Toprak Razgatlioglu. As we know, the Turkish rider has an expiring contract with BMW and as a result he will have to figure out what kind of direction to choose for the future of his racing career.

Staying on the M 1000 RR seems to be the best solution, but at the same time the Turk continues to nurture the dream of going to MotoGP. In fact, several times he has declared his ambition to jump into the other paddock, but to date it's only been a lot of talk and nothing has been done about it.

It is a fact that Marc Bongers, i.e., the BMW Superbike manager, has spoken out on the subject: "We all know that Toprak is a rider who needs challenges and motivation," he said to the microphones of our Speedweek colleagues, "he is extremely competition-oriented and gets bored quickly. In fact, we are aware of the fact that he will not become world champion five times on our bike, because as I said he needs challenges."

For sure, the Turkish rider's future will be one of the hot topics in the coming months: "We will take it one step at a time. It's too early to say what Toprak will do in 2026, because at the moment we don't know, much less have any indication about it. Of course we might be in the situation of having to replace him, because it is a possibility that he will decide to do something else, as a result it will be difficult to replace him."

Obviously BMW is trusting in the permanence of its protégé, because if not, action will have to be taken in the market. At the moment all the rider contracts of the other manufacturers are expiring, because no one has an agreement for 2026. So we will see what will happen.
