It was 2022 when Danilo Petrucci became the first MotoGP rider to win a stage of the Dakar. Second at the finish line of the fifth stage, then later promoted to first place thanks to Toby Price's penalty, the rider from Terni, riding a KTM, wrote a great chapter in the long history of the dangerous rally-raid, which winds its way through Saudi Arabia. Now, he's about to add another, if you will, even more compelling one.
Abandoning two wheels for the occasion, the rider, who has many MotoGP, MotoAmerica, and Superbike victories behind him, has chosen to tackle the fearsome marathon, starting next January 3r from Bisha, at the wheel of an Iveco truck, in memory of the childhood he spent in the cockpit of hs father's, who's a truck driver by profession.
Driving for the Calcinate-based Italtrans Racing Team, he'll be supported by the Prometeon TyreGroup for tires, along with Claudio Bellina, an expert in the dune and sand event, for which he's already competed in 16 editions. His notes - precious more than ever in such an event - will, instead, be entrusted to another veteran like Marco Arnoletti, an engineer who's normally involved with Bugatti and Rimac, at his eighth race, and his second with this team.
