MotoGP, Binder: "We still need to understand the KTM RC16. Michelin didn't help us."

"There is no need to revolutionize the bike, just improve some areas. The new rear tire may have been a contributing factor to our difficulties."

MotoGP: Binder:

Although the gap to Ducati reached an impressive 395 points Brad Binder said he is convinced that KTM does not need a revolution to be competitive and fight on a par with the Italian team.

In view of 2025 according to the South African there would in fact be only one thing to do. "We must first understand the bike and only then can we start to improve the areas where we are lacking. So it is not necessarily a big step forward, but some progress in braking, cornering and grip. This is the only way we can make a difference," was the view of the 29-year-old who does not even want to think about the brand's financial crisis.

"For several reasons this year we had to change the balance of the RC16 and this created critical issues because operating in the usual windows we did not notice any difference, so we had to take a more radical approach that took us time. It was only towards the end of the championship that we were able to find a bit more of a square - he said, blaming the difficulties also on the renewed rear tire developed by Michelin.

"It's hard to say, but I guess the problems were also caused by the new tire that offers more grip. However, not having made a direct comparison with the 2023 solution, one cannot be sure. You can't put your finger on it in when you return to a track you are rusty and everything looks different," he concluded careful not to point a finger at the French tyre supplier.
