SBK, Yamaha risks losing Prometeon as title sponsor in Superbike

The shakeup in top management, with Roberto Righi's exit from the scene, could mean a step back in SBK efforts. Meanwhile, Yamaha has submitted its entry with PATA the sole title sponsor.

SBK: Yamaha risks losing Prometeon as title sponsor in Superbike

Recently, Dorna released the entry list for the upcoming World SBK Championship, and in the list of participants, what immediately stood out was the fact that Yamaha was presenting itself with only one title sponsor, namely PATA. Until last season, the Japanese manufacturer also had the support of Prometeon, so much so that the full wording was PATA Prometeon Yamaha.

There is a clear reason for this, however. At the end of November, a major shake-up involved the top management of Prometeon, with the exit from the scene of Roberto Righi, the architect of the sponsorship in the World Championship reserved for the production-based bikes. The baton has now passed into the hands of Yuan Liang, and as a result it will be necessary to understand what kind of direction will be taken.

Certainly Prometeon is facing a crucial junction for 2025: on the one hand the possibility of continuing with Yamaha, as has been the case for the past two years, and on the other hand abandoning the SBK project. So we shall see what is the evolution of the situation in a month of January that promises to be nothing short of incandescent on the sponsorship front.
