MotoGP, Bonora: "Aprilia will have to keep an open mind with Martin and Bezzecchi"

"They're coming from the best bike, and we'll have to be pragmatic in understanding their needs. We know where to improve, on data analysis and speed in responding to to the requests of the riders."

MotoGP: Bonora:

Undeniably, Aprilia expected something more from 2024. They had the satisfaction of being the only constructor, besides Ducati, to win a GP (in Austin, with Viñales), but the final rankings were anything but positive in Noale. They were 3rd in the Constructors Championship and 7th in the Riders Championship with Vinales.

"We're quite satisfied with the first part of the season. We got a lot of podiums and, apart from Ducati, we were the only ones to win a GP,"Aprilia's Race Manager, Paolo Bonora, said in an interview with motogp.com. "We set a lot of goals at the beginning of the year and we reached them. We probably lost something in the second part. When you get to a certain level, it's more difficult to take big steps forward, but we definitely understood why we missed something compared to our rivals. We have to improve our data analysis and respond faster to the comments of the riders during the weekend. We know that we need to improve in hard braking. It's not about intervening in any particular area but making progress on our package."

These are the points for which they have to start over with a completely revamped team. Viñales and Espargarò have left Noale, and Bonora wanted to give proper credit to Aleix: "We're proud that he's part of our history. He joined us in 2017 and, with him, we reached many podiums and incredible victories. With his help, we improved the bike, step by step. We'll keep Aleix in our hearts, as well as Maverick. We set a goal to win at least one race with him and we did it. We want to thank them both."

The future will be under the aegis of  the new world champion, Jorge Martin, and Marco Bezzecchi.

"It's going to be a very challenging year for us, because we'll have two fast, young, and very talented riders. There's no doubt about it. The whole team is excited, and we'll have to be very pragmatic to understand what their demands will be and have an open mind in understanding that they're probably coming from the best bike on the line-up. We'll have to improve to get that performance," the manager admitted.
