Somewhat surprisingly, Frankie Carchedi has decided not to follow Marc Marquez in his adventure with the Ducati Lenovo team, preferring to remain with the smaller Gresini Racing team, where he'll be working with rookie Fermin Aldeguer in 2025.
Asked by Crashnet to explain the reasons for his decision - not an easy one to make in some ways - the engineer who, in 2020, contributed to the title obtained by Joan Mir with Suzuki, said: "I'm a Gresini employee, and I get along well with them," he said. "When Marc arrived, one part of me was happy and the other sad because Di Giannantonio was leaving. You work all year, you manage to get your rider to be the fastest in the group, and then you end up starting from scratch. It's going to be the same with Fermin, even though his is a two-year deal. This detail is very positive, since it allows you to progress. It's like in a relationship. The more time passes, the more we understand each other."
"I'm pretty sure that Santi Hernandez didn't even need to talk to the Catalan rider anymore when he was with Honda. He only needed a glance to understand what he needed on the bike. That's how it always works, and it was the same for me with him in the last few rounds of the championship," he continued to reflect. "Even if he doesn't take off his helmet, I can tell if things are going well or not."
