The introduction of the bike+rider weight limit was one of the new features of this recently concluded season in Superbike. On the subject, the regulations are clear: for those riders who weigh less than 80 kg (including the leathers), the difference divided in half is added to the bike.
This rule has not at all gone down well with Alvaro Bautista and Ducati, which has appealed several times in recent months to the MSMA to revise it. Unfortunately, however, nothing has changed because the other manufacturers clearly opposed it so that everything would remain the same.
Not only that: according to what we have learned, some manufacturers would even like the method of calculation for the application of ballast to be revised, that is, not the difference divided in half, but one to one. Meaning: if Bautista weighs 70kg compared to the required 80kg, instead of having 5kg of ballast he should have 10kg, which is the total to be compensated.
In the end, however, there will be no change: the calculation method will remain the same and again in 2025 the bike+rider weight limit will remain in place.
