Alex Rins is back under the knife. Despite the fact that it has been quite some time since the injury he suffered at Mugello in June 2023 when the then Honda LCR rider found himself with a fractured right ankle and was forced to miss nine consecutive races, he has not yet fully recovered; indeed, at the end of the 2024 season he again had to undergo surgery to remove the plate that was initially inserted into his limb.
From his home in Andorra, warmed by a romantic fireplace, and in the company of his son Lucas, the Spanish Yamaha rider posted a photo showing an obvious band-aid covering the wound and a message full of enthusiasm for the future.
"I got myself a birthday present in form of a small surgery to start the 2025 in perfect shape," it reads.
In spite of a championship still faced with a limp, the Spaniard tried to do the best he could, ending the year 18th overall, while his boxmate Fabio Quartararo finished just ahead in 13th.
