MotoGP, Cecchinello: "Of 2024 I save the synergy with HRC and the hiring of Albesiano."

"In Japan they realized that you have to take advantage of the expertise of those with MotoGP experience. Positive to have worked more closely with their technicians. In Sepang the bike will be similar to the one in Montmelo."

MotoGP: Cecchinello:

In spite of Honda's continuing critical issues, Lucio Cecchinello assured that the relationship with the Japanese manufacturer is stronger than ever. United since 2006, together they have won just four GPs, three between 2016 and 2018 with Cal Crutchlow and one in 2023 with Alex Rins, but not everything is to blame.

"We've collected a lot of data, and what's important is that this year we've worked more closely with HRC engineers and provided a lot of information, including videoometry. Now we have a clearer idea of where to focus our evolutionary efforts," the team boss told the official MotoGP website after the Barcelona tests.

The direction for the winter has thus been outlined. "In Sepang we should have a bike similar to the one used at Montmelo. By that date we expect to have more rear grip, because mechanical grip is the aspect most criticized by our riders. We will also have to improve cornering and braking," unveiled the Italian manager, who was also happy with the choice of Romano Albesiano as technical director, in his view a clear demonstration of the change in approach by the Japanese.

"I don't want to say that his hiring surprised me, but it is a sign that in Honda they have realized that if you are a capable manufacturer you need the best personalities with specific experience with MotoGP development. They have very good engineers, but logistically the series is very European, starting with the suppliers. F1 technology is moving to the top class and Japan is not necessarily the best place for development," he concluded his reasoning.
