Moto2: Axel Pons' conversion: from motorcycles along a way of faith

He could've probably left a mark in the MotoGP but, instead, Axel Pons went astray. After making his debut in 2008 as a MotoGP wild card in the 125 class, then moving up the following season to the 250, from 2010 to 2017, Sito's son put himself to the test in the Moto2, with a 16th place finish in 2016 as his best overall result.

Axel then disappeared from the two-wheel scene to devote himself to fashion design, but made himself heard again in 2019 when, during an interview with El Pais, he announced that he wanted to forget everything that represented the past. After years of silence, he recently appeared on YouTube with a look that was decidedly far removed from his former self.

With dreads and a gypsy look, Axel - who told the man who interviewed him that he was "a little bit from everywhere" - said he had been walking for 15 months to get from Spain to Pakistan, traveling through ten countries strictly barefoot.

Continuing in his story, the former rider said he wanted to enter India but couldn't because his visa was denied. So, after going  to Islamabad, he'll try to get there through China.

In a second video, this time related to a series of questions also from a child, the 33-year-old confided that he wanted to start doing things more slowly after living so fast for a long time, and this made him begin appreciate the details in life. He then added that he had one desire: "to complete the union with Allah or with God" through this particular way of praying by walking.
