It was a Saturday full of announcements for the Preicanos Racing Team. In fact, the Spanish team officially announced the appointment of Giovanni Sandi as the team's technical director for the 2025 season and the addition of Xavi Artigas and Harrison Voight to the team for the European Moto2.
Sandi was already The technical director for the Preicanos team in the last Grand Prix of the season in Barcelona, as well as Dani Munoz's technician at the Aragon GP. He'll be helping the team grow and fight at the top of international motorcycling scene, thanks to his experience and his incredible racing career.
The technician from Pavia boasts a resume that ranges from the dawn of the 500cc World Championship to the most recent successes achieved in the Moto2, passing through the World SBK, conquering 8 World Championships, 90 victories, and 115 podiums, along with riders of the caliber of Jorge Lorenzo, Toni Elias, Max Biaggi, and Enea Bastianini.
"It's an honor for the Preicanos Racing team to have such an iconic figure in the paddock as technical director," Team Manager Raul Castaneda commented. "With his guidance, we're confident that we can build a solid and competitive project."
Artigas and Voight new riders for Preicanos team
Highlighting the Spanish team's great ambitions for 2025 is also the line-up that will defend its colors in the European Moto2 Championship, formed by Xavi Artigas and Harrison Voight.
After a complicated 2024 with the Forward team, in which he only managed to reach the Top 10 once, finishing 6th in the Japanese GP, Artigas is ready to start a new chapter in his career, wanting to prove his potential in competing at a high level and aiming for the title.
"I'm very happy with the opportunity my new team, the Preicanos Racing team, has given me. I'm looking forward to showing our potential, achieving our goals, and getting ready to get to the World Championship stronger than ever," Artigas - who'll be share the garage with another young hopeful, Voigh - commented.
With his performances as a replacement for Dani Muñoz in the Moto2 Australian, Thai, and Malaysian GPs, and the potential he demonstrated with the Yamaha Stylobike Philippines team, the 18-year-old Australian rider has definitely convinced the Preicanos team to give him an opportunity to step into the limelight in 2025 by competing in the European championship.
