The last round of the championship in Barcelona saw Jorge Martin triumph and win the first world title for himself and the Pramac team. He did so against a Bagnaia who tried everything, ending a perfect weekend that, however, wasn't enough to stem the Spanish rider's lead in the standings. Marc Marquez chasing Bagnaia and finishing second on the podium then sealing a third place in the standings against an Enea Bastianini who ended up fighting against a really fierce Aleix Espargarò. The rider from Granollers bid farewell to the MotoGP, accompanying his friend Martin towards the wnning title. This ends a championship dominated entirely by Ducati, which made all the victories its own this season, except for Vinales in Austin. Now, the Borgo Panigale manufacturer will see the number 1 leave the fairing of its Ducati to end up, in all likelihood, on the Aprilia that Jorge Martin will be riding next season.
Carlo Pernat's comment:
"In the end, everything ended as it should've ended. A 19-point lead was a lot, after all. The victory in the sprint rekindled the fire of hope for Bagnaia, who did what he had to do. He won both the sprint and the race The battle between the two ended with only a difference of a few points. Martin deserved the title. He faced the championship head on, he matured a lot. Now, Ducati will have the number 1 taken off its bike for the Aprilia. It's going to be the strangest thing that's going to happen. Bravo to Pramac because an independent team winning a championship has never happened before. It finally happened. Campinoti deserved it. It's a great team, and it's a shame that Ducati let them go to Yamaha. They'll be strong. Marquez won the fight for third place in the championship. It looked like Bastianini had an advantage, but his bike wasn't on point, despite a good start. Kudos to Marc for a great race. He followed Bagnaia from the first lap. Next year, they'll share the garage. It's going to be a good fight. We saw Aleix Espargarò's last race. He tried to leave a good memory of himself but racing against his opponents rather than for himself."
"Morbidelli struggled for half the race, then he always loses something, but it was a good race for him, as well. The fight for the title and the fight for third place were the two leitmotifs of this championship. They've been the best four riders in this championship. We saw Binder awaken. He overtook Acosta, who had problems in the last laps. He also passed Bastianini in the last corner. I expected more from Yamaha, while Honda is improving, but not fast enough to fight for the title next year. Clearly, Yamaha is still ahead of them at the end of this season. It was a good season. When the championship ends at the last race, you know it was a good season. It was a Ducati domination. They won everything they had to win. Hopefully, the rider changes next year will help close the gap between the bikes. It's also going to be interesting to see the differences between the movements of the technicians, from Albesiano to Sterlacchini."
